Walgreens Wants To Help Support And The Patients
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Apparently, Walgreens and Express Scripts are having some issues. Express Scripts has decided that Walgreens will no longer be in it’s network, doing so has upset thousands of customers. Why they’re getting upset? Because this action is causing disruption with no significant benefit to patients and their health plans. It also forces them not only to have to change pharmacies but also to drive farther to fill their prescriptions to other pharmacies with less convenient hours. Many patients under an Express Scripts plan have used Walgreens pharmacies for years and have a personal relationship with their Walgreens pharmacist.
America’s military service men and women are also being greatly effected by this change. Tricare, their health and prescription program, is an Express Scripts client and Walgreens offered Express Scripts a guarantee that it would match or beat the average costs of all the other Tricare pharmacies in an effort to prevent those serving our country from being caught in the middle. Unfortunately Express Scripts rejected the efforts made by Walgreens.
One step being taken by Walgreens to minimize disruption is to offer a special discount on annual membership for the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens. Walgreens is trying to help those patients who have been Walgreens customers for years and have a personal relationship with their pharmacist.
Throughout January, individuals can join for $5 and families can join for $10. Members receive savings on over 8,000 brand name medications and on all generic medications. Membership is normally $40 for individuals and $35 for families.
